Finding Your Fireplace
What's the difference between a fireplace, an insert, and a stove?
A fireplace is built into a wall (often during construction or a remodel). An insert slides into an existing fireplace opening to make it dramatically more efficient. A stove is a freestanding unit that vents through a chimney or wall — like a heating appliance you can stand around. Each fits different scenarios; we'll help you pick.
What brands do you carry?
Heat & Glo, Kozy Heat, Heatilator, Quadrafire, Vermont Castings, Harman, Simplifire, HHT, Dimplex, and Monessen — the major hearth lines covering gas, wood, pellet, and electric. Bryan picks a Good / Better / Best / Premium tier for every category so you always have a clear path. See the full catalog.
Will my fireplace work during a power outage?
Most modern gas fireplaces have a millivolt or battery-backup ignition that keeps them running for days without electricity. Wood and pellet stoves vary depending on whether they need a fan to circulate heat. We plan around power-outage backup for every Northern Minnesota install — we'll walk through what works for your home during the consultation.
Why don't you carry pellet fireplaces?
Pellet fireplaces are a unique conversation that's better had in person — there's nuance around fuel storage, hopper sizing, and ash management that doesn't fit a simple online flow. We carry pellet inserts and pellet stoves (which are far more common) and we're happy to talk through pellet fireplace options if you stop by the showroom.
Can I see units burning live before I buy?
Yes — our Duluth showroom on Miller Trunk Highway has more than 45 fireplaces and stoves on display, many burning live. It's the largest hearth display in the region. Stop by during showroom hours: Mon–Fri 9am–5pm and Sat 10am–3pm.
Cost & Financing
How much does a typical gas fireplace installation cost in Duluth?
Most gas fireplace installations in Northern Minnesota run between $4,000 and $12,000 — depending on the unit, venting requirements, framing, and finish work. Use our instant estimate tool to get a ballpark for your specific project. We fine-tune the price during the free in-home visit.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. We work with established hearth-industry lenders that can spread your project across affordable monthly payments. Most decisions come back in minutes, and pre-qualifying is no commitment. Call (218) 729-4895 or see our financing page.
How much does a fireplace service call cost?
Service calls start at a flat trip rate that covers the first hour of diagnostic work. Parts and additional labor depend on what we find. We give you a straight-up estimate before any major work.
Installation
Do you install fireplaces yourselves, or do you use subcontractors?
Every installer and service tech on our team is a Fireplace Corner employee. No subcontractors — ever. The same people who recommended your fireplace are the ones who install it, and they're the ones who'll come back to service it down the road.
How long does a fireplace installation take?
Most gas fireplace installs take 1–2 days once the unit arrives. Wood stoves and inserts usually finish in a single day. New construction projects with framing and finish work can take longer — we walk through the timeline during your in-home visit so there are no surprises.
What areas do you serve?
The Duluth metro plus the broader Northern Minnesota region — Hermantown, Esko, Proctor, Cloquet, Two Harbors, Hibbing, Virginia, and across St. Louis, Carlton, Lake, Cook, Itasca, Aitkin, Pine, Crow Wing, and Cass counties. See our Service Areas page for the full list.
Do you install in new construction?
Yes. Building new or doing a major remodel? We work with builders to spec the right unit before framing goes up. Bring us in early — we'll plan the chase, gas line, and venting during rough-in so the fireplace install slots cleanly into the build schedule.
Service & Repair
Do you service brands you didn't sell us?
Yes — we service all major hearth brands, regardless of who originally installed them. Schedule a service call online or call us at (218) 729-4895.
What kinds of service do you offer?
Gas Fireplace Inspection, Gas Fireplace Repair, Gas Fireplace Maintenance (annual tune-ups, glass and burner cleaning), and Pellet Stove Repair. 1,000+ services a year. All major hearth brands. Schedule online.
Do you sweep chimneys?
No — we focus on fireplace, insert, and stove service: gas appliance inspection, repair, maintenance, and pellet stove repair. For chimney sweeping, we recommend reaching out to a dedicated local chimney service.
How fast can you get out for a service call?
Most service calls in the Duluth area happen within a week. Urgent issues — pilot won't light, a smell of gas, no heat in winter — get prioritized. Call us directly for anything that can't wait.
